Juventus are considering offering a new deal to Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Vlahovic had been linked with a summer transfer to Chelsea, in a move that could have seen Romelu Lukaku head the other way – before the Belgian instead joined Roma on a season-long loan.

The 23-year-old though has made a strong start to the season scoring two goals and providing an assist in their opening three games of the season.

Italian reports have now suggested that they are willing to keep Vlahovic and offer him a new contract.

Gazetta dello Sport have claimed that they are willing to offer Vlahovic a contract extension, although part of the reason is to spread his wages out over a longer period.

Todd Boehly’s Chelsea had considered a move for Vlahovic during the summer window

Vlahovic joined the club in January 2022 for £60m, on a four-and-a-half year deal.

His contract features a yearly rise to his earnings, going from £6m at the beginning of the deal to £10.7m in the final year.

The final figure is deemed excessive by club chiefs who are reportedly set to begin negotiations with Vlahovic’s agents next month over a new deal which would lower the annual costs by extending his contract one year until 2027

Despite talk of a summer move to Chelsea, Vlahovic reportedly had hoped to stay at Juventus and the Italian club are hopeful a new deal can be agreed which would help ease financial pressure on them.

Juventus hope this will be a breakout season for Vlahovic at the Italian giants.

After previously netting 44 goals in 98 games for manchester united drakt Fiorentina, Vlahovic has only netted 15 times in 45 games for Juventus.

Juventus are also considering similar contract offers to midfielder Adrien Rabiot and keeper Wojciech Szczesny.
